Involvement with NRCan

The ACLS is not a Crown Corporation or Government Department but has a very positive relationship with the Surveyor General Branch of the Federal government’s Department of Natural Resources (NRCan).

In fact, if the Association doesn’t meet its objectives, the Federal Natural Resource Minister has the legislative power to take measures to fulfill them. Every year, the ACLS submits a report to the NRCan Minister. Click here for the most recent 2021 Annual Report

To make sure that the ACLS fulfil its mandate of protecting the Public, the Minister appoints two individuals to sit as voting members of the Association Council.

Many SGB staff members are very much involved in ACLS initiatives as volunteers on the various committees.
