Our Relationship with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan)
While the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors (ACLS) is not a Crown corporation or a government department, we maintain a strong and collaborative relationship with the Surveyor General Branch of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). As part of this relationship, ACLS submits an annual report to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, outlining how we are meeting our legislated responsibilities.
To help ensure that ACLS continues to fulfill its mandate of protecting the public interest, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources appoints two representatives to serve as voting members on the ACLS Council.
Additionally, many staff members of the Surveyor General Branch actively contribute to ACLS initiatives by volunteering their time and expertise on various committees and working groups.
This close partnership supports our ongoing efforts to uphold the highest standards in surveying on Canada Lands.
