CPD Program
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Since 2011, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements have applied to all licensed Members of the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors (ACLS). CPD is a vital part of maintaining professional competency and staying current with developments in the field of land surveying.
CPD Requirements for License Renewal
Licensed Members who have held a licence for more than three consecutive years at the end of a reporting period must complete a minimum of 45 CPD credit hours to renew their licence.
How to Earn CPD Credit Hours
CPD credit hours can be earned through a variety of professional development activities, including:
1. Courses, seminars, workshops, or training provided by

Academic institutions

Other surveying or related professional associations

Vendors
-
Other recognized educators
Credit: 1 hour of activity = 1 CPD credit hour

2. Professional Meetings

Attendance at ACLS Annual General Meetings, regional meetings, or meetings of other surveying or related professional associations
Credit: 1 hour of activity = 1 CPD credit hour
3. Volunteer Service

Serving on ACLS Council, committees, or task forces, or similar roles with other professional organizations
Credit: 1 hour of activity = 0.5 CPD credit hour
4. Presentations and Publications

Delivering presentations or authoring papers related to professional practice (including preparation and research time)
Credit: 1 hour of activity = 1 CPD credit hour
5. Self-Directed Learning

Research related to new or historical surveying techniques, legislative requirements, or acquiring accreditation in other jurisdictions
Credit: 1 hour of activity = 0.5 CPD credit hour
Limit: Maximum of 10 credit hours per year
Reporting Your CPD Activities
Members are responsible for recording their CPD activities using the online portal, this information will be used annually to verify compliance with mandatory CPD requirements, to renew your licence.
