The Practice Review Department of the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors (ACLS) plays a key role in ensuring that surveyors uphold the highest professional standards when working on Canada Lands. As part of our mandate to protect the public interest, the Practice Review Program monitors and supports the professional practice of all licensed Canada Lands Surveyors.

What We Do

The primary goal of the Practice Review Department is to maintain confidence in the profession by promoting consistent, high-quality surveying practices. Through regular reviews and constructive feedback, we help members strengthen their professional knowledge and improve the quality of their work.

Practice Review Program

Under ACLS regulations, all licensed Canada Lands Surveyors are subject to a mandatory practice review every three years. This process includes:

  • Review of completed projects to assess technical accuracy and adherence to ACLS standards;

  • Constructive feedback provided to surveyors to support professional growth and improvement;

  • Recommendations for additional training or resources when necessary.

Why It Matters

The Practice Review Program:

  • Ensures the protection of the public and Canada Lands interests;

  • Upholds confidence in the profession of land surveying;

  • Supports continuous professional development for our members.
