Hydrographers

Discussions are ongoing with the Canadian Hydrographic Service on the implementation of the certification program for hydrographers. Developed by a joint CHA - ACLS task force, much of the proposed certification model is already aligned with recommended or mandatory training for CHS Multidisciplinary Hydrographers. It is intended that once in place, this certification model will provide hydrographers with a goal they should strive to attain, albeit on a voluntary basis, as they pursue their careers. It is also intended to enhance the identity of hydrographic surveying as a profession, as well as serve as a catalyst for labour mobility.
