Offshore Expertise

Since the Offshore is the largest part of its area of jurisdiction, the ACLS has shown leadership through the following initiatives:

• Promotion of a Marine Cadastre for Canada
• Promotion of the role of the CLS in defining Canada’s outer limits in the offshore in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)
• Promotion of the ACLS national certification program for hydrographers, in order to establish a standard for which hydrographic competence may be measured. See "Becoming a CLS" section.
